Eji Quiem of University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Balangaw on his experience participating in the 2022 National LGBTQI Students Network Conference
Fifteen (15) LGBTQI student organizations attended this year’s National LGBTQI Students Network Conference held last July 2-3, 2022 at San Mateo, Rizal.
On Day 1, Atty. Claire De Leon of the Commission on Human Rights discussed LGBTQI rights and protections. Mother Perci Cendaña of Akbayan Partylist also trained the delegates how to conduct a SOGIESC workshop.
A strategic objective was developed by the organizations on how they can make the National LGBTQI Students Network a coalition that can support the organizations in terms of capacity-building, partnership-making, and resource mobilization.
The conference was capped by a graduation ceremony wherein the delegates received educational materials they can use in their advocacy.
This year’s conference was participated by Bicol University MAGENTA, BulSU Bahaghari, CNU Hugpong LGBT, DLSL LAYA, FEU SAGA, Empress MSU, PLM Propaganda, PSU Pride, PUP Kasarianlan, UP Babaylan, UP Babaylan – Clark Chapter, UP One’s True Nature, UST Hiraya, USTP Balangaw, and WMSU Lakandiwa.
