‘Hangouts’ may mean different things for every person but for our Babaylanes Equality Fellows, it’s their chance to casually talk and share ideas with LGBTQI Mentors about special topics related to their interests.
The BEF Hangouts, just like the Discourse & Discussion sessions introduced earlier in the program, are part of the Fellows’ coursework to finish the fellowship.
On April 9, 2022, we held the first Hangout with historian Telly Paradela. During the session, the fellows were given an overview of the history of the Philippine LGBTQI movement.
Then, on May 21, 2022, the second Hangout was conducted with BEF Mentor Vince Rapisura regarding Social Entrepreneurship. This was one of the topics that came up when the Fellows were asked about what they would like to talk about during the Hangouts.
Two more sessions will be conducted in the following months to cap off our BEF Hangouts.
