Community organizinG

The Building Rainbow Communities (BRC) program is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of rural LGBTQI organizations, facilitating their transition from informal entities to formally recognized bodies registered with relevant government authorities, thereby solidifying their legitimacy. Additionally, the program aims to bridge the rural-urban gap among LGBTQI organizations by facilitating collaboration and knowledge exchange through active involvement in the LAGABLAB LGBT Network. Ultimately, the program seeks to advocate for LGBTQI rights at the local level by engaging with and influencing governmental officials to enact LGBTQI-responsive policies and legislation.

Glamourosa Organization

The program, which ran from June 2021 to March 2023, achieved several key milestones. These include (1) the onboarding of Glamourosa Organization and Mariveles Rainbow Alliance as our partner rights-holders groups, (2) the development, implementation, and launch of the BRC LGBTQI Community-Based Organizing Modules, (3) the conduct of a National LGBTQI Leaders’ Summit, and (4) the courtesy calls with the Local Government Units of Catarman and Mariveles to lobby for anti-discrimination ordinances in their locality. The Glamourosa Organization is now officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, while the Mariveles Rainbow Alliance has been legitimized by its partnership with the Mariveles Sangguniang Bayan.
